well its been 6 more months, and after adding a few pieces of equipment, and some good showings in some tournaments here recently with tougher patterns i feel like im progressing every time i get on the lanes. hopefully i can get back to where i was 10+ years ago. in my last blog i mentioned some goals i had and one was just a good showing in our local association tournament. well i shot 1996 all events which wound up 2nd in the scratch division and 5 in handicap. on top of that i had the high game of the tournament with a 299. so all in all i accomplished more than i set out to so i was very pleased. lately ive been doing some tournaments which use various pba and kegel patterns. last month i bowled one on highway to hell, it was my first tournament since march and while i didnt make the cut i was pleased considering that my legs left me after the third game lol. last week i did a tournament on the usbc nationals pattern, score were extremely low. after 3 i was -31 and sitting in 7th place. they make you move based on the standings after 3 and the pair i caught had sparking backends and i didnt adjust quick enough, that comes with not bowling enough, a few more tournaments and i will have that fixed. so all in all im very pleased with my progress, i need to lose a little more weight and bowl more. thanks for reading!
a year later...
wow, it's been almost a year since i blogged, lol. alot has happend this year, and i've learned so much about my game this year. first off i've strayed away from using a targeting system i learned from ron clifton a couple years ago. i went back to it last week and i can already tell a big difference in my accuracy, especially when crossing boards. second, thanks to my good friend jimmy martin, more emphasis is being directed toward ball surface. this is an area i've often struggled in, in part because i've shied away from using duller surfaces, if you saw me throw the ball you'd know why :) third, i gotta get back on my diet, i've gained almost 15 pounds back and i can tell it in my game! i haven't done a tournament in almost a year, so my goals for this new year is to lose some more weight, and do more tournaments. my goal right now is to get in shape for the annual high point city tournament, make a good showing, and start winning money again! cheers and happy new year to all!!! stopncrank
